Replace Cavities With Fillings
Fillings are used when a dentist removes a cavity. The dentist drills around the decayed area to remove the cavity and then fill in the space with a dental filling. Fillings can also be used to repair chipped or broken teeth.
After the material is filled into the cavity, the dentist shapes it into the rough shape of a tooth. It will be shaped to look natural and match to your existing teeth. The material is then hardened using a special blue light and polished to complete the restoration.

Types of Dental Fillings
- Composite - Made from a resin base, these fillings are designed to match the exact color of your teeth and offer the dentist the widest variety. These fillings may wear and stain over time.
- Amalgam - Known as silver fillings, these are highly durable but less visually appealing.
- Gold - Lasting up to 20 years, these fillings are the most famous but also the most expensive option.
- Porcelain - Also known as inlays, these fillings are made in a lab and chemically bonded to the tooth. They are similar in price to gold fillings but can be matched to the color of your existing teeth.
